Ok, I know this is a bit off-topic, but since many of you live in the US, is anyone going to buy the Iphone today? anytime soon? I was wondering if anyone knows when the unlocked GSM version will be available for sale..
Also, I just found out about netvibes.com which is apparently the next big thing in an all mash-up “home-page” that you can use. I really like it! You can add The Beirut Spring as a module simply by copying this feed address and posting it as a new feed.
Try it and tell me what you think..

The beirut spring is a blog that is interested in Lebanese society and its politics. It started in February 2005 after the assassination of Prime Minister Rafik Hariri

Mustapha, I don’t know if this answers your question, but my understanding is that Apple has this partnership with AT&T/Cingular for the next 5 years whereby you can only get the i-phone with an AT&T service. Maybe I’m understanding this wrong, but it seems to me that the idea is to become an AT&T subscriber (and essentially switch away from other service providers) in order to cash in on the i-phone. I do have AT&T, but I’m going to hold off on the i-phone for a few months to see how it’s going to play out etc… There were many glitches with the i-pod when it first came out a few years back, and $600 is a lot of money for a device like the i-phone when you already have an ipod and a blackberry.

Well, LNH, that’s why I’m a bit confused.
Many websites are selling “unlocked iphones”, but from my understanding, some features like the voicemail are tightly knit to the At&T platform..

The iPhone seems too “gimmicky” to me. It doesn’t have some features that I use a lot, and it does support things that I don’t care about at all. I’m not sure who it’s aimed at, but it ain’t me :)

Off topic is exactly what we need! I’ve pre-ordered one myself. No to show-off, but too late for that now :p
