Josey, the situation calls for strong action,

Yes and action number one is to implement the law by stopping armed thugs tire-burners etc regardless of age.

What is the Lebanese state doing in order to prevent civil strafe..

It is fianlly shooting at law breaking criminals. Right now these guys are in the street in a war situation and breaking the law. People hiding in their midst assaulted the national army and cut the throats of 17 soldiers before this baloney started.

There's tire burning after 20 years of peace and there's tire burning after 80 solders were killed. Do you understand CONTEXT?

You want the (lousy and failed) Lebanese gvmnt to do what? Improve the camp work conditions or rights? Discuss things nicely with "them"? We tried that the last 30 years and it failed. That's not the top issue anymore and not a Lebanese priority.

You want action? Fine we need to apply the law by force. What's your answer? Negotiate with Fatah el Islam?

Finally re "cliches' I was referring to the broad culture that you seem to espouse: "victims' and "human being" arguments that take us nowhere.

The Palestinians were let loose on Leb cuz they were poor "victims", and now you want to let loose these 12 year olds because they are minors. The result is Lebanon is getting killed (and your Pali friends keep getting nothing but death and destruction). What's the point?

We are dealing with murderous Assad and/or fanatical head-choppers and you want to do what: talk, discuss, invite Amnesty International, and Amr Moussa??

Unless you were born yesterday, you can't seriously believe we can restore security like that.

Josey, the situation calls for strong action, not "strong" words.

I wonder what words like shit and fuck can do in such situations.

What is the Lebanese state doing in order to prevent civil strafe between the Lebanese and Palestinians?

One looks for answers in oneself first instead of blaming others, that's an unsuccessful strategy in my opinion.

Finally, do I sound like a "cliche person"? I am here debating with you this topic, is it cliche as well?

Take it easy on the labeling

Cheers

Lira,

The situation calls for strong words. They are also needed to get through to people like you, though you keep missing the point.

These people are "human beings" is a useless view. A murderer coming at you with a knife, 12 or not, is also a "human being". Should you not defend yourself?

You want to be stuck in cliches of "human beings" and "victims" to justify doing nothing in the face of constant aggression on the real innocent and the nation.

That's the "culture" that Lou is talking about, not what classics you read in school. That's lost on you too, so much for communication.

And I don't know what your community has to do with any of this. You're again missing the point and misunderstanding "culture."

PS As to Mustapha, I think he knows the difference between the occasional strong words and filthy inane rants.

Louis, first tone it down.

Secondly, "my culture"? If you're interested in my culture, you could ask me about it and I would tell you.

Wait, I just read the rest of your crap reply and realized that you were not interested in communicating with me.

I'm a "he" by the way and I am Lebanese like you, furthermore we might be of the same religion, if not same sect - How do those prejudicial comments of yours look now?

As for JoseyWales, those "fucks" are human beings, their parents are accountable - not them, plus we're all accountable as well, as society at large.

Mustapha - You really need to put a lid on such characters, they pollute anotherwise respected blog.

Regards,
Lira

"Sacrificing ones own people in order to generate rage against your enemy is, quite simply, a military tactic the Palistinians have perfected."

i think that applies to the whole arab/muslim extremists world. i like to call it "martyr-DUMB". i am glad to hear on this and other M.E. blogs, that people are starting to get sick and tired of all the crap the islamo-fascists have been and are doing. keep it going.

Palestinian children do periodically get shot at, sometimes fatally, but that just helps the cause.

You cannot blame the Palestinians for hiding behind children.... it is proven spectacularly effective.

You know why? Cuz no one's threatened them or shot at them.

Why do you think the Hama Islamists did not bother sending 12 year-olds to face Assad's army?

Answer: no media, and Assad would not give a shit anyway.

You want a PC war? You die.
