Who Backs P.M. Sanioura ?

The Daily Star makes a good point in Today’s editorial: Why is the international community more supportive of PM Sanioura than his own Lebanese allies?

You’re on your own

The Lebanese daily writes:

As the most high-profile leader of the Lebanese state, Siniora himself has been the focus of much of the international community’s praise [..] The problem is that here in Lebanon, Siniora has not been given the same unequivocal backing. Not only has he had to face a serious challenge to his legitimacy from the opposition, but he has also had to contend with divergent voices within his own alliance, the March 14 Forces. Siniora’s ruling coalition includes a wide assortment of factional leaders whose objectives frequently seem at odds with his own, and indeed often contradictory to the basic principles of democracy. As a result of the mixing of so many contradictory platforms and special interests, the March 14 alliance quite often appears rudderless.

Come to think of it.. That’s true.
In Lebanon, there is no unequivocal support for Mr. Sanioura. It seems Mr. Hariri somehow has it in the back of his head that he could eventually be sacrificed in a future compromise.

Here’s a question: Have you ever seen Saad Hariri come up on TV and say: You mess with Sanioura you mess with me? While the opposition likes to hurl insults at Mr. Seniora all the time, you never hear Hezbollah or Aoun being as venomous with Mr. Hariri himself, do you? Why does Hariri put up with that?

  1. Sanioura has been working for the Hariris for 30+ years. Hariri is using Sanioura for the current crisis in order not to be compromised. Eventually, he will become prime minister once an agreement is reached with the opposition after the election of a new president.

  2. Throughout all the turmoil we’ve been through, it’s been Saniora that I turned to for inspiration. Tears and all. He has been a great statesman at a critical time.

His leadership made me swallow the unpalatable Geagea, Gemayel, Jumblatt and yes, Hariri.

Without Saniora at the helm, and I would vote against March 14th. He’s that good. Don’t make me vote Aoun, guys.

  3. I agree with you, concerned citizen, Sanioura is a good man

  4. Well Sanioura is a good moderate puppet/agent of the USA like most of the Arab leaders; this is why he gets all this praise and attention because he does what he is asked to do without any questions. Sanioura used to Raffic Hariri’s(Allah Yrhamooo) boy. Saad Harri sees him as a threat for his political future as a prime minister, but his (Hariri’s) concerns are contained for now, because they both cross interests when it comes to regional alliances and agenda’s.

  5. Sanioura is not a threat to Hariri, he is part of his staff.

  6. Let me say that you are entitled to your opinion and I respect it too.

    My Opinion

Just replace the three letters “his” used in your sentence to:

    cia

Not Just Sanioura , most of the Arab Leaders are like that.

P.S. Sanioura is as rich as Saad Harri now. And is by now means under his staff, Sanioura is independent from Harri now, and he takes the direct orders from CIA now. As I said, he used to be Raffic Harri’s(Allah Yrhomo) employee and financial advisor. But now he is the Prime Minister of Lebanon, and he is building his own empire slowly distancing himself from Hariri. You don’t see this underground battle for power in the Media because it weakens them and strengthens the opposition.

Again you can believe what you want but, Just wait, time will prove my point.

  7. No, Sanioura is not a billionaire. there are only two billionaire families in Lebanon: the Hariri and the Mikati.

  8. May I remind you that Saad Hariri is only 37 y.o. and Sanioura 63 y.o.? Unless he gets assisinated before, Saad will likely become Prime Minister some day.

  13. PM Siniora is the ‘glue’ holding Lebanon together right now. He has proven to be much more than any expected. He did not ‘fold’ or ‘run’ from the Demo to get him to resign. He managed to secure the funds that kept Lebanon out of bankruptcy. He managed to negotiate the end to a war he did not start and had no control over. He managed to get the Palestinian leaders to support any decision he and the Army might take in the camps to stop the Terrorists. He managed to get the International Tribunal mandated by the UN after Syria and it’s allies managed to stop it from passing. He has managed an alliance of different views and sects and keep them focused on a united Lebanon. None of this was an easy task.

IF he were a US ‘puppet’ then he would not be protecting Hezbollah by saying their disarming is a Lebanese matter and Lebanon will address it - not UN Resolutions 1559 & 1701. PM Siniora is calm, steadfast & patient. If M14 & the FM choose a different PM they will give up the credibility and presence that PM Siniora has brought to Lebanon.

  14. I agree with Ace. PM Sanioura has proven to be much more than any expected.
However, I don’t think that he would remain PM after the election of a new president. He might become a scapegoat for the opposition, maybe that is why Saad Hariri is distancing himself from him.

  15. Mahmoud Abbas, Fouad Sanioura and Nouri El Maliki are similar clones issued by the US labs. - Still, the most devious among them remains Mahmoud Abbas.

There is not 1 single chance for Saad –el-Hariri to become PM 1 day. The Americans want Sanioura only -and Saad will have to follow…

But, the very idea of having Saad as PM, with his well known political knowledge, culture, personality, and IQ , gives me the chills

  16. Humm, given his name: Sanioura or Siniora, I say that he is backed by Italy!

    Posted by kheireddine | June 29, 2007, 2:07 pm
  17. OK let’s get serious: how about Nasrallah, Berri, Wahhab & Suleiman Frangieh Jr.,I am wondering from which labs they are coming from. The marvelous Iranian or Syrian labs maybe.Unfortunately, our leaders always get polarized by international & regional tensions.I am still looking for a neutral politician. a true lebanese politician and not a weather cock like Aoun & Joumblat.

  18. Dakhilkoun Ana, El CIA and American Clones and the you tube crap of the masonic idiots full of semite paranoia and the usual BS that you hide behind. the USA is not the most advanced country in the world just by coincidence!!! They are the number 1 because they worked on being number 1 and they fully deserve it. But how to answer ignorants that had never visited the states (yet each second of their lives they wish that) and goes on criticizing the most important civilization in known history.

To go back to the initial topic: Sanioura is backed by the states as long as he does what he is asked to do. The good thing about this person, i think, is that he finaly understood the big game: Do what the US wants!
Take a look at the israelis, one small country in a sea of hostile arabs. How did they survive? By doing what the US tell them to do (and not the contrary anti-semite freeks) So why not us lebanese following the good example and yes, bowing our heads to the US will as germany, japan, israel and most of europe and the world did!

  19. Kheireddine

    Heheheh, whatever…

I was merely pointing at the principal new Arab pones in the US game for the domination over the M-E., and not at the sordid local Leb. politics.

But since you brought it up; I suppose that all the Zionists/Wahabites tea waiters at Marjeyoun, are O.K. by you for obvious reasons ; but NOT their allies, Jumblatt and Geagea, and this, for the same OBVIOUS reasons.

    Ralf

I quote you : “But how to answer ignorants that had never visited the states (yet each second of their lives they wish that) and goes on criticizing the most important civilization in known history”

My answer: U know nothing from nothing :)
