I’m sure you’re all wondering what’s taking the Lebanese army so long to finish its war against the Absi terrorists. I wanted to know too, so I had a closer look at this Palestinian refugees “Camp” and put together a high resolution map of it. Generous as I am, I decided to share it with you
Now you can actually see the density of the buildings and visualize the locations of the battles we keep reading about in Tayyar and LF.
To download it, right-click on the above picture and chose “save link as”. Don’t forget to let me know what you think..

Hello, my name is Mustapha and I've been blogging about Lebanese society, business and politics since February 2005.
nice job Mustapha, I like it
You welcome I.K
That surely looks highly populated. I wonder what the bigger buildings are? What do they do for feeding their families? Or is it mainly aid (from UNRWA)?
I had difficulty locating the camp before seeing Al-Balad newspaper photo. I never been to Nahr Al-Bared! Al-Balad had a copy 3 days ago but was not clear like yours. I went to google earth (the free one) and located it after I saw Al-Balad photo. Google Earth can give more detailed photos but you have to pay $400 annually.
Suzanne,
It is indeed highly populated. I have no clues what the bigger buildings are, but they could belong to better off refugees. Remember, the camp was the center of a lot of Lebanese tax-evasion trade.
GK,
I mashed up my own map by using the free google earth. I did it by having 9 adjacent close-ups that i stitched together with photoshop.
The June 15 of Al-Balad had the map with labels. http://www.albaladonline.com/index.php?issue=1214 and go to page 10.
The big (wide) buildings are the UNRWA schools which are adjacent to the football court. Just SE of it, is Samed Building. To the far West is Al-Nawras rest area.
Mustapha, I’m unfortunately not familiar with the Lebanese tax-evasion trade.
Thanks GK. Mustapha’s map is more clear, perhaps he can use the Al-Balad info to clarify what is to be seen on the picture.
there was no Q as to who will win the battle. The 4 Q to be asked now are:
-why did it take that long & cost that much?
-who will win the media war, the army or the terrorists?
-will a serious empowered inquiry take place?
-then, will the people who were behind the terrorists be punished?
How the hell did the refugees end up with prime property right on the Mediterranean?
