Confessions: Fateh Al Islam Members Worked For Syria Without Knowing It

According to the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation, Ahmad Merhi, the liaison officer between fateh Al Islam and Syrian Intelligence was caught in Ashrafieh.

Tony at Across the Bay has the details, but he wrote his article quoting the Kuwaiti Al-Rai Al aam, a less-than-credible source, before LBC confirmed the details with its “exclusive” story this evening.

LBC’s story is consistent with many of the details of Al-Rai al aam‘s (same source?), but LBC has some even juicier stuff:

Ahmad Mer’i was recruiting the Islamists by convincing them that they are on a mission to protect the Sunnis in Lebanon. According to the LBC, many fighters have later discovered that they’re working for the Syrian Intelligence so they gave up the fighting or handed themselves up.

Glitches

Remember that annoying white page that came after you posted comments? Gone! Sorry for taking so long but it was one stubborn bug.

* You can now also preview your comments before committing them to a post.

* I also fixed some general performance issues and removed the star rating system, because, frankly, I’m getting more comments than ratings..
