(PS: Sorry for the spotty blogging, I should be back on track soon. I might also have a little surprise up my sleeves..)

The beirut spring is a blog that is interested in Lebanese society and its politics. It started in February 2005 after the assassination of Prime Minister Rafik Hariri

This is an excellent pic… Worth a thousand words. Especially since this Hiwar is as crash-prone as windows…

this hiwar… it shows how unlegitimate is our parlement:
The dialogue must be taking place inside the parlement through the debate of the representants of the population, not through round table of warlords, or mafioso or feodalistic leaders.
there is a good reason if the hiwar is not possible inside the parlement.

Hiwar? what a waste of time!
Do you think they are listening to each other? MArch 14 agreed on Shebaa to be Lebanese and when HA tried to liberate it, they accused him of being a Syrian and Iranian tool. They agreed not to remove Lahoud then they accused Aoun of protecting him. They agreed to contain the Palestinians and remove their weapons, and nothing was done. They agreed to talk to Syria and then refused the invitation from Syria fro a talk. Now they will agree to whatever Berri wants then do whatever they want. It is not Berri’s fault that we, the Lebanese don’t know what Hiwar means. Hiwar = two-way communication. And it is not Berri’s fault that the Lebanese are never wrong: HA is not wrong, neither is March14 and of course not Aoun. I wonder sometimes, could it be that we need somebody to rule us? A dear Syrian friend of mine told me right after the Cedar revolution: Do you guys know how to rule your country? When you are going to fight among each other, who will stop you? I laughed at him and told him that we underwent too many bad days during the Syrian control over our country that I don’t think we will fight each other for decades.
I guess I was wrong….
And sorry Mustapha, I forget to mention that your work is great.
