This set back on the road to democracy should not lead to despair but to redoubling our efforts to achieve the seemingly elusive goal of creating a civil society where dialogue in a free market of ideas determines outcomes of political discourse instead to explosive devices.
This nefarious event must be opposed by all sides and not only those that agreed with Gibran’s political views because this killing is a reflection on all of us. We need to show genuine,real and lasting moral outrage against the events themselves because if we don’t then we would be aquiesing inaccepting a rotten system

After March the 14th, he was the only one voicing my sentiments and aspirations. No politician had the guts to say what i feal and think apart from Gibran. My parents didn’t love him,at least during war times because they thought of him as a “Mouta3asseb” unlike his father. This puzzled me, because if he is “Mouta3asseb” then i am as well because i agree to every single word he ever wrote despite me being Sunni. I am truely devastated and depressed as i think that the only person who echoes my sentiments is dead. Allah yirhamou. God have mercy on his soul. God save Lebanon.

Allah Yer7ammu is not good enough for me! I wish that I am in Lebanon to be the first at Martyrs’ (Freedom) Square to say loud and clear that we (Christian, Druze and Muslims) will protect our country! I hope that everyone able should go to the Martyrs’ (Freedom) Square to show that we are one people ready to defend our country and we are against ANYONE who will cause any instability by killing our citizens! The Syrian occupation lasted 29 years because every time a politician (or not politician) is killed we say Allah yer7ammu, do nothing and things go on as usual!!!

Frankly, I don’t know from where “Anon.” gets his horseshit notions of censorship cum retraction, but I can testify nothing could be more untrue re: Mr Mousse’s stance on The Naharistan Bugle and its founding-family.
I’ve actually often criticized Mustafa’s “don’t ask don’t tell” position on the suspiciously generous Saudi funding Tueyni father & son have enjoyed for many years, and the correlated vitriolic articles they’ve recently published criticizing (Aounist) Christians, moderate Lebanese Shiites, the secularist Baath party, the Iraqi resistance, as well as exiled Saudi democrats and other perceived “heretics” and enemies of the Wahhâbi absolute monarchy…but enough politics.
May Allah and Zeus have mercy upon Gebran Tueyni’s soul, for he certainly didn’t deserve to die that horrendous way.
Let’s hope the cowards who have committed that appalling act of terror will be brought to justice.

vega - if you don’t know what you’re talking about, it’s usually a good idea to shut the F up.
Mustapha attempted to be funny by posting a sattire mock interview with a fake syrian official over the killing of Tueni. I posted a comment about the poor timing of the article, and he removed it.
This has nothing to do with censorship and coverup, it’s just a matter of bad taste to talk about his daughter with the loss she just endured today.
